A Coffee Daydream:
Written by Adnan

Finding it harder to wake in the morning,

my eyes are open but damn I'm still snoring,

Sit up, get out of bed but it's so cold,

Should I go back to sleep? Take your bets, I fold,

Going to need a hot coffee to start this day,

with so many options it feels like a buffet,

Trying to see but my vision is still blurred,

what's this one, espresso blend, Smokey Bird?

Tasting like chocolate, red berry and vanilla,

brewed on my moccamaster this is tasting killa',

Waking up slowly but another coffee I'm needing,

cause I'm still Aretha Franklin, Day Dreaming,

One coffee with Mr.Bao on the front, where is he?

I found him, here it is, the Papa New Guinea,

Tasting of Chocolate, Mandarin and Black Teas,

wow that Mandarin got me speaking Cantonese

Mr. Bao has got into the Christmas spirit! (Sorry about the single o joke)

Now is that enough? or have I over done it?
nah I'll have another, reach a new summit,

Whats this? A Christmas Honduras from Pelicano,

Single O' O' O' produced by Osman Rene Romero,

Dark Chocolate, Grapefruit, Tamarind and Cacao,

flavours insane I feel like I've won a cup maybe Carabao,

There is many more coffees I want to try though,

but I think I've already over done it, gone too gung-ho,

Maybe It's best if I just get a Pelicano subscription,

bi-weekly coffees delivered to my door, a controlled addiction.

Soil health in coffee farming

Written by Ryan

Soil Health in Coffee Farming:

Healthy soil, happy coffee.

Maintaining crops, like in most farming industries, is highly dependent on soil management and fertility.

Maintaining the correct PH level in the soil, growing on steep terrains and hot day/cold night microclimates are just some of the variables monitored for maintaining healthy coffee crops.

PH Levels:

Coffee plants require soil with neutral-acidic PH levels (between 5.2 and 6.3).

Water Retention:

Soil with high water retention and a high plant uptake potential will yield healthier crops and tastier coffee.

Soil type:

Some ideal soil types for growing coffee are volcanic red earth and sandy loam, both of which are known for their good drainage and fertile soil.

Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations recommends: "If a coffee tree is to grow well, it needs more than anything else a soil of good structure, permeable and deep."
